Brood Mother is one of the enemies in Outriders.

The Brood Mother is a prime specimen among all Perforo, stronger than even the Alpha. She is powerfully attuned to the Anomaly's energy, owning to the matured gland found in her overgrown torso. She can store that energy in it and draw upon those reserves of power to unleash devastating attacks.
The Brood Mother usually resides inside the hive, tending to her young, while the others go in search of food and fresh corpses, the latter serving as incubation chambers for the eggs the Brood Mother lays inside of them, awaiting fertilization by the Alphas. Only when absolutely necessary will this mother of Perforos go into battle, typically against trespassers that enter her lair. As the "mind" of the hive, she will raise the alert when she senses incoming threats, calling her children to her defense
It seems that among Brood Mothers there is a kind of hierarchy, with the stronger ones able to govern even larger swarms of Perforo, or even other Brood Mothers. This remains a highly contested theory, as the few scientists who continued their research on the matter ended up closer to their subjects than they had wished for.
Strategy[]
Large but nimble, they possess the ability to heal lesser Perforo, as well as the Absorbent Skin ability seen in Alpha Perforos. Ranged attacks in the form of spikes are to be expected, as well as a wave of spikes that leaves a blue field of fire that inflicts considerable damage if stood in. At close range, expect typical melee as well as a special 3-hit, wide sweep that does large amounts of damage. Burning off the Absorbent Armor makes them vulnerable to Ash/Freeze as well as stagger. If possible, maintain cover between it and yourself at all times to minimize leap attacks.
