You made it through the forest thanks to your new crew members, Tiago and August. With the native's help, the massive gate opened, revealing a vast desert stretching out before you, with multiple storms tearing through it. If this is the place beyond the Anomaly, it doesn't look anything like it.
You have no choice but to press on and find the source of the signal.

Dr Abraham Zahedi - Expedition Notes
The vastness of the desert is interrupted by dunes and complex rock formations. Sources of water and food are near non-existent. I'm reminded of my childhood, of travelling during the scorching heatwaves that swept through Earth's northern hemisphere and killed off most life, leaving only mountains and skeletons.
Against the storms that ravage this barren wasteland, it is all we can do find shelter. Against the endless horizon that stares us down, it is all we can do to chase the heat haze.
