Screecher is one of the enemies in Outriders.
Journal Entry[]
The Screecher occupies Enoch's skies, regularly dive bombing on its prey and catching them unaware. With a preference for carrion, the Screecher is content to let others do the heavy work, then sweep in to steal the prize.
The creature's cunning is evident in the ways it uses its sharp beak and talons to strike at the eyes and face, disabling its prey's ability to fight back, while depending on quick turns and rolls to avoid getting hit. Its large wingspan is made up of long, coarse feathers. When close to naturally falling out, the Screecher uses Anomaly Energy to turn these feathers necrotic, suddenly hardening them to take on the form of various projectiles which it can shoot out at will.
Strategy[]
A difficult enemy to contend with. Aerial and incredibly quick. Burst damage works well, as when enough damage is dealt quickly enough it will force the creature to land and flail helplessly. Ash/Freeze are of limited use as they last a laughably short amount of time on them. They have three attacks, all telegraphed with a red warning which are as follows.
- Straight line of feathers launched quickly. Can be easily dodged to either side.
- A red circle directly underneath. This means the screeches will slam down at that spot, opening it up to damage.
- A red area around the Screecher, with a clear area beneath it. This means it will fire feathers in a wide area, and is avoided by standing under the Screecher, or cover.
