The First Altered was what many call the Insurgent that first exhibited the terrible, godlike powers for which the Altered came to be known and worshipped for.
The First Altered forever changed the course of the war between the ECA and the Insurgents, when he butchered most of the ECA's top officials, including President Nyberg.
Although Seth is famous for putting down that attack, it wasn't until several years later that Seth defeated the First Altered in a duel on No Man's Land. Although it is doubtful the First Altered could have survived his fall into that deep rift, some say he is still alive and hidden deep inside Insurgent Territory, leading their forces as their supreme leader.
